EITb: Imaz, Ibarretxe, Muguruza and Otegi

Good thing there is news about music in the midst of politics reports at EITb:

Spanish PM to focus on ETA statement with Basque nationalist Imaz

The Spanish Prime Minister, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero (socialist PSOE), will receive in the Moncloa palace the president of the Basque nationalist party PNV, Josu Jon Imaz, to reiterate his desire that PNV maintain an active role in the peace process.

Thus, Zapatero's meeting with Imaz puts and end to his first round of contacts with the spokespeople for political parties since the Basque armed group ETA declared a permanent ceasefire on March 22.

The leader of the Spanish government will inform Imaz on his demand. According to Zapatero, he does not have a complaint to make about PNV's performance up to now. And he stressed his desire that PSOE's and PNV's relationship be more solid and outstanding.

The Basque premier Juan José Ibarretxe has focused on the peace process in an interview in the Basque radio programme "Goiz Kronika", in Radio Euskadi station. In his opinion, the source for achieving the political normalisation is in the Basque Country, and it will be the Basques who will make a decision in order to be referred to the central government afterwards.

After reminding that fire bomb attacks in the towns of Barañain and Getxo will set back the process; Ibarretxe says he is convinced that the Basque society will be able to overcome all the obstacles, emphasising that "all of us must have a role in the process."

Questioned whether how and when the table for resolution will be made up, the Basque premier has not given much importance to a date, but expects that it be in progress after summer. He asserts that the most important thing is the agreement that will be reached there.

The Basque singer Fermin Muguruza has launched his new album today. Called Euskal Herria Jamaika clash, it was recorded in the capital of Jamaica, Kingston.

Besides, Muguruza and his band have recorded a documentary film about Jamaicans' opinion about Basques, which will be broadcast on the Basque TV channel ETB1 on Tuesday, May 9 at 11:00pm.

Fermin Muguruza describes as "unforgettable" the recording session in the island, where he has been surrounded by musicians and sound technicians. The enthusiasm has been reflected in the record.

Batasuna leader report "tactics" delay negotiation table creation

Outlawed Batasuna spokesman, Arnaldo Otegi, has demanded in an interview for the public radio station Radio Euskadi not to delay the agreement for the negotiation table, fighting "some parties' delaying tactics, as they are not in a hurry for a multi-parties' dialogue seeking peace and democracy."

Arnaldo Otegi believes it's a "serious error" to think that the process will start after the president of the Spanish Government, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, asks for support in Congress to tackle a dialogue with ETA.

"The focal point is in the Basque Country, it depends on the parties of this country. After ETA's permanent cease-fire there are no excuses to delay a decisive dialogue" among Basque parties, he has pointed out.
