Thousands of people march through the centre of Bilbao, in Spain's Basque region, February 18, 2006, to protest at the macro-trial currently being held in Madrid's high court against fifty-six Basque nationalists. The defendants in the trial, which is known by the file number '18/98' are accused of providing logistic, ideological or direct support to armed Basque separatists ETA, and face harsh jail sentences if convicted. Members of the Basque regional government attended the demonstration, while the Basque parliament has passed a motion denouncing the trial as 'political and judicial persecution.'
