Boats from the Basque, Galician and Cantabrian rowing clubs brave adverse weather conditions to take part in the 110th edition of the Bandera de la Concha, a three-mile (4.8 km) offshore rowing regatta in San Sebastian, northern Spain, September 11, 2005. The origins of this traditional race came from the need to arrive at port with the day's fish catch before other boats in order to get a better price. When motors replaced manpower, the race evolved into a sport. Heavy betting takes place at stalls along the waterfront. REUTERS/Vincent West
